Lei Day Celebration Workshop With Eekum Bookum
Date: Saturday, May 6th at 11am
One Hour Symposium with a complimentary cocktail.
This year’s Tiki Caliente has a focus on Hawaii author and poet, Don Blanding, who also created one of Hawaii’s favorite holidays, “Lei Day”, which takes place every May 1st. In celebration of this holiday, John and Janet Mulder (owners of the beloved Eekum Bookum Tiki mug company) will be hosting a fun and creative workshop on how to make a handcrafted Graduation Lei. You’ve probably seen John and Rory Snyder wear these super-plush and brightly colored leis during various Tiki events, and we are sure you have said to yourselves, “Damn, those are some fine-looking leis.” Well, now you will learn to make one of your very own. This hands-on class will include all the materials you’ll need to make your beautiful keepsake lei, that you will proudly wear with your favorite Tiki outfits for years to come. The Mulder’s will take you step-by-step through the crafting process, while you also enjoy a delicious tropical libation provided by The Reef. By the end of the class, not only will you have your own personalized Graduation Lei around your neck and a cocktail on your lips, but you will also have the aloha spirit in your heart!
